With online education you can find programs which meet all your requirements and suit your schedule. You direct your own development.

Online education is the new paradigm in learning. Improve your skills and retrain in a way that fits with your life.

BEFORE YOU REGISTER:

When planning your new future, it’s important to choose a reputable provider who provides the material, tools and support you need and allows you to manage your study to suit you. Before investing your time and money it’s wise to do some research and ask a few relevant questions:

  • For how long is the course valid?
  • Is the time limit extendable?
  • Can you see a sample of course material before you purchase?
  • Is there any free trial or any period when you can check the course and receive a refund if you don't want to proceed?
  • Does the course offer exactly what you are looking for?

HOW WELL ARE YOU SUPPORTED?

While online education providers offer student support, you are the one in control of managing your study. Before you commit to your course, be clear on what level of support is offered and what facilities are available, both during and on completion of your course.

  • Are tutors available on demand or within certain days/hours?
  • How does tutoring work? Individual tutoring? Group tutoring? What does each cost?
  • If you have a disability, inform your provider in writing as early as possible and ask what extra support could be given before you commit to your study.
  • Take time to understand how assessments and exams work.
  • Is there an exam at a physical location, like an exam centre, or just online? If so, check that you can easily access the location.

DO THE DETAILS FIT YOUR SCHEDULE AND BUDGET?

  • Make sure that all material you need to prepare for the exam is included in the course.
  • Check exactly what the total cost of the course covers.
  • Understand time limits and costs of extending the course time.
  • Can you re-sit exams? How much does it cost?
  • Check costs for certificates, enrollment letters and transcripts.
  • Carefully read the terms and conditions and refund policy.
  • If you need clarification, contact the support team directly and get confirmation in writing if you think it’s needed.

HOW USEFUL IS YOUR PROGRAMME?

  • Is there a forum where you can chat with the provider’s alumni and ask questions about their experiences? What is their satisfaction and success rate?
  • Research the level of recognition of each provider. Some are recognised by a national system of regulation or awarding bodies.
  • Many reputable providers are not part of a nationally recognised regulation but are widely recognised and respected in their fields.
  • Check with career centres, professional entities or potential employers about the relevance and usefulness of particular qualifications.
  • Shop around, compare providers and particularly, similar courses.

THE ICOES GUARANTEE

  • ICOES accreditation guarantees that registered providers of online education are reputable and that they uphold our required standards in every area of the learning experience.

  • It promises ethical standards.

To best honour your commitment to further education, invest in learning programmes from providers who are independently accredited. As well as the assurance of quality, should you have an issue with your provider and a dispute arises, ICOES can support you in resolving it.
